Independent Sales Representative (1099, Commission Only)

Moody Teas is looking for independent sales representatives to open wholesale and corporate accounts across Chicago. This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity paid on straight commission — not a salaried role, and not an hourly one.

You run your own business. You set your own hours, work from wherever you work, use your own phone and tools, and decide how you sell. You are encouraged to represent other lines alongside ours — we do not ask for exclusivity. If you already call on cafes, grocers, offices, or event planners in this city, we want to be one of the lines in your bag.

What You'd Be Selling

A nine-mood tea line blended in Chicago, already stocked in cafes and served at corporate events and farmers markets across the city. Wholesale accounts reorder. Event clients rebook. The product has traction — what it needs is more rooms to be in.

Commission — The Actual Numbers

No base, no draw, no guarantees. Here is every way you earn, exactly as it is configured in our system. Not "competitive commission." These are the real rates:

• Wholesale accounts — 2% of every invoice on the amount above the first $100, paid when the customer pays. Recurring: every reorder that account ever places pays you again, for as long as they keep ordering.
• Pop-up and corporate events — 1% of net event sales
• Repeat event bookings — $100 flat, each time an account books again
• Farmers market placements — $75 flat for each market you secure
• Samples — $1 per sample sent, up to 100 per month

Two things stated plainly. Wholesale commission is reviewed before payout and pays on collected invoices — an account that never pays never pays you either. And commission is uncapped, so what you earn is a function of the book you build and keep alive.

• Access to our CRM so your pipeline and commissions are tracked transparently
• Optional product training so you can speak to the line properly
• We handle fulfillment, delivery, and invoicing — you open the account and keep the relationship

Please Read This Honestly

There is no salary, no hourly wage, and no minimum payment of any kind. If you need guaranteed income, this is not the right fit, and we would rather say so now than waste your time. This works best as one line among several that you carry.

Terms

Independent contractor engagement, non-exclusive, terminable by either side. You control your own schedule, methods, and territory coverage. You are responsible for your own taxes, expenses, and equipment. Commissions are reported on Form 1099-NEC. A written independent contractor agreement is signed before any work begins.
